DeJon Lynch 1

Nanaimo running back becomes second CFC TOP 100 player to join AUS team’s 2014 class.

DeJon Lynch will be returning north of the border to commence his university gridiron career.

The 5’11, 215 pound running back from Nanaimo, British Columbia has committed to the Saint Francis Xavier (St.FX) X-Men for the 2014 AUS season.

Recently, the CFC TOP 100 offensive standout completed his high school career with Sumner Spartans in Washington. This past season with the Spartans, Lynch amassed 1500 rushing yards and scored 23 touchdowns.  Previous to the Spartans, he suited up for the John Barsby Bulldogs of the British Columbia High School Football Association (BCHSFA).

Lynch said the entire selling point of his decision to sign with the X-Men was the strength of the football program, which was evidenced during his official visit to the Antigonish, Nova Scotia campus.

“I decided to commit to St.FX because the players, the coaches, and the community care about your success no matter who you are or what you’re doing,” explained Lynch of his decision.  “When I spent my time there I had a great time with the team and everything they said about the school was genuine.”

“They train hard and are focused to succeed and I wanted to be a part of it.”

As for the X-Men, the team is thrilled to welcome Lynch into the fold.

“DeJon is our kinda guy, he is strong academically, great athletic potential and most importantly he is a young man of great character,” commented X-Men Head Coach Gary Waterman.  “We think he has tremendous upside in our program.”

“The white and blue welcome DeJon and his family.”

X-Men Recruiting Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach Gord Gallimore is familiar with the team’s newest recruit and look forward to having a player with unique qualities.

“I’ve been talking to DeJon ‎for nearly two years now,” reflected Gallimore.  “Throughout the process, DeJon has been nothing but a great young man who exhibits great work ethic, a brilliant student (3.7 GPA) and just truly special person to be around.”

“It’s a perfect fit for him here at X, as he has family living close by as well. We are thrilled to have DeJon wear the White & Blue!”

X-Men Offensive Coordinator Steve Snyder is looking forward to working with Lynch as he epitomizes the brand of recruits the AUS team is adding to their roster.

“We’re impressed with DeJon as a student athlete, academically he is a high achiever, athletically he has had great production at his position and comes with national recognition as the 37th ranked CFC Top 100 player,” added Snyder.  “He really is a model of the type of people we are bringing in here at X.”

“Our university and our football program are attracting some of the best players in the country. We truly are a national brand.”
