Alex Fontana gets to realize his gridiron dream at the next level south of the border.
Last week. the 6’3 305 pound lineman from Toronto, Ontario signed with NCAA Division 1 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) team, Houston Cougars.
He announced his decision via social media:

Fontana received the intial offer from the Cougars back on March 29th:

Overall, the lineman received seven offers during his recruitment process. Others came from University of South Florida Bulls (FBS), Maine Black Bears (FCS), Indiana State Sycamores (FCS), Florida International Panthers (FBS), Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns (FBS), Southern Illinois Salukis (FCS) and UTEP Miners (FBS).
Recently, the lineman completed a stint with JUCO’s New Mexico Military Institiute Broncos. Previous to the Broncos, Fontana completed a one year stint in 2014 with Connecticut prep team, Kent Lions.
Additionally, Fontana played north of the border for both the Toronto (Scarborough) Thunder of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) and Pickering Trojans of the Lake Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (LOSSAA) as well as competed in the Scarborough Minor Football Association.
