Two Clan players earn BSN All-American honours

Burnaby, BC – Simon Fraser University wide receiver Lemar Durant (Coquitlam, BC) has been named a Beyond Sports Network second team All-American while freshman tight end Jamal Kett (Orangeville, ON) has received an honourable mention.

Both were first team all-conference players in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference this season while Durant was also named the GNAC’s Newcomer of the Year.

Durant followed up those honours with a spot on the first team of Super Region III all-stars.

During the 2012 season, Durant hauled in 82 receptions for 1227 yards and scored 16 touchdowns.

He also tied the GNAC record for most touchdowns in a game when he scored four on the road against Dixie State.

Nationally, he finished third in the NCAA in receiving yards per game, sixth in receptions per game, third in total receiving yards and 14th in scoring.

As a freshman, Kett had 27 catches for 287 yards, his longest being a 37 yard reception against Dixie State in St. George, UT on October 27.

He had seven touchdowns in 2012 and was named the Clan’s offensive rookie of the year for the season.

Kett ranked sixth in the GNAC in touchdowns in 2012 and second in receiving touchdowns.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
