U of T brings in American recruit for 2017

Varsity Blues attract a commit from New Hampshire.

Born in Florida, but raised in Montreal, Quebec, Patrick Prendergast, a wide receiver from St. Paul’s High School, will be returning to the Great White North after committing to the Toronto Varsity Blues.

Prendergast is currently playing with the St. Paul’s Bid Red, a private school football team located in Concord, New Hampshire. (Concord is a small town north of Manchester.) What drew this American back to the northern half of the 49th parallel was the opportunity to attend a university with great academics that are globally renowned. He will be going into Rotman Commerce.

“Also, the players that I met were great and the facilities are top notch,” he added. “The coaching staff helped my decision. They treated me as a member of their community even before I signed.

The 6’4, 225lbs player, who also plays slot back, has been playing football for 12 years. He is originally from Stuart, Florida, a tiny community north of West Palm Beach. While living in Montreal, he spent time playing with Loyola Warriors high school team. In 2014 and 2016, he was named Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec Most Valuable Player. In 2015, he was given All League Honours.
