U Sports: RSEQ, TVA Sports announce 2017 schedule

Montreal, February 21, 2017 – The RSEQ and TVA Sports are pleased to announce the Quebec university football schedule and televised games calendar for the 2017 season.

As part of its partnership with theΒ RSEQΒ through 2019,Β TVA SportsΒ will broadcastΒ 11 gamesΒ during the 2017 season, including the crowning of the Quebec conference champion in the Dunsmore Cup!

Coverage on TVA Sports will kick-off with the season opener on Saturday, August 26 at 7:00 p.m. as theΒ l’UniversitΓ© de SherbrookeΒ Vert et OrΒ take on the defendingΒ Dunsmore CupΒ championΒ l’Université Laval Rouge et Or. The pre-game will begin at 6:30 p.m.Β In addition, TVA Sports will launch its university football coverage with a 30-minute season preview on Thursday, August 24 at 6:30 p.m.

TVA Sports will have its team of football experts back in place this season. Denis Casavant and Charles-Antoine Sinotte, a former McGill Redman standout, will call the games. While Louis-Simon Lapointe will be on the sidelines and Matthieu Quiviger, a former Montreal Alouette lineman, will serve as an analyst.

As the RSEQ’s broadcast partner, TVA Sports has committed to covering Quebec university football through 2019.

Serge Fortin, vice president of TVA Sports, is enthusiastic about the 2016 coverage. β€œIn another thrilling season last year, RSEQ University Football gave fans their money’s worth in excitment. We had to wait untill the last play of the last game to confirm the RSEQ champion. University football occupies a prominent place on our airwaves and we will bring the fans even closer to the action to let them experience the intensity of the confrontations.Β Β»

New Competition Format
The five RSEQ teams will square off twice, one at home and once away to make up the eight-game regular-season schedule. Each team will have two bye weeks during the regular season. The format remains unchanged for the playoffs with the conference’s top four teams qualifying for the postseason.
