Washington Redskins sign Canadian defensive tackle Waud (VIDEO)

This past weekend, the Washington Redskins announced that they have inked Canadian defensive tackle Daryl Waud to a contract.

With his signing, the Hamilton, Ontario native becomes the second player from OUA’s Western Mustangs that has signed with the team since 2009.  The other is Vaughan Martin, who is now with the San Diego Chargers.

Last week, Waud was drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in the second round, 12th overall in the 2015 CFL Draft.

Earlier this month, the defensive tackle also attended the New York Giants mini-camp. Prior to the mini-camp, the Giants have indicated on their website that Waud is a top prospect – “one of NFL.com’s top undrafted free agents following the NFL Draft”

In February, Waud participated in the 90th East-West Shrine Bowl Game in St. Petersburg, Florida.

During his career with the Mustangs, Waud has amassed 81 tackles (including 55 solo tackles), recorded seven sacks and caught two interceptions.
