Washnuk named Football Manitoba under-18 provincial Head Coach

Football Manitoba has announced that Dan Washnuk will be taking the reins of the 2013 and 2014 under-18 Team Manitoba provincial programs as Head Coach.

“Coach Wash”, as he is known by his players and peers was the recipient of the Scott Norris Development Coaching Award in 2011.  His coaching staff with the Buckeye program won back-to-back Winnipeg High School Football League Coaching Staff of the Year awards in 2011 & 2012.  Most impressively, he moved up to the AAA conference in 2012 and took his team to the WHSFL’s Potter Division Championship.  Coach Washnuk has been part of Football Manitoba’s Provincial Programs since 2011, coaching in the Red River Cup Championship in 2011.

Washnuk has been involved with football in Manitoba at the young age of 12 with the East Side Eagles, played for the River East Kodiaks in high school, and finished his playing days in the high performance ranks of the Winnipeg Rifles.  He received his teaching degree from the University of Manitoba and has taught English at Miles Macdonnell while coaching the Buckeyes program for the past 4 years.
