CEGEP defensive end joins OUA team’s 2016 class

Rossini Sandjong Djabome is moving provinces to commence his CIS career.

Last Friday, the 6’2, 225 pound defensive end from Longueuil, Quebec has committed to the York Lions. Sandjong Djabome will join the team for the 2016 OUA season.

β€œI committed to York because I love the university I have a lot of friends there,” explained Sandjong Djabome of his decision.Β  β€œI also want to live on the campus, grow up by myself taking care of myself without my family.”

Despite deliberating for quite some time about his options, the defensive end is thrilled with becoming part of a team that is

β€œIt was a hard choice but I feel like it was the best decision to make I’m going to York with a mind of changing the program,” expressed Sandjong Djabome.Β  β€œI know they had hard season but I want be part of those people who’ll rebuild the program.Β  β€œIt’s also a big decision because by being far of my friends and family, it makes me want focus on what I have to do I know and am convinced that the next few years will be awesome and we going to WIN!”

This past fall, Sandjong Djabome completed his final season with CEGEP Division 1 team, Edouard-Montpetit Lynx. During the 2015 season, the defensive end recorded three sacks, registered 42 tackles (31 solo and 22 assisted)and seven deflected balls. His 11 tackles for a loss ranked fourth in the league.

In 2010, Sandjong-Djabome began his career with RSEQ Juvenile Division 1’s Jacques Rousseau Sphinx.

The defensive standout received accolades during his high school career including Sphinx Bol D’Or Award which exemplifies the player who demonstrated the best attitude during the season and was selected as a juvenile β€˜AAA’ All-Star.

Last July, Sandjong-Djabome helped Team Canada win a silver medal at the 2014 International Federation of America Football’s (IFAF) under-19 World Junior Championships.

In September, Sandjong Djabome was included for the second consecutive time on the #CFC100 CLASS 2016 RANKINGS.

With his commitment, the defensive end does become the first #CFC100 for this year’s class.However, Kayden Johnson, who was a #CFC100 for CLASS 2014 signed with the Lions for 2016.
