2025 CFC50 High School Rankings WEEK 5: Lord Tweedsmuir bring an end to the streak in BC

TOP HEADLINES

  • After a spectacular three year stretch, the streak is finally over. Vancouver College went into their matchup against Lord Tweedsmuir looking to secure their 41st straight win on Canadian soil, but they finally met their match with the Panthers pulling away to secure a monumental 23-10 victory. Every team in the province has been chasing the Irish dynasty, who have won three straight AAA provincial titles, and for the first time in a long time it looks like it’s possible another team could be celebrating at BC Place. This race is far from over, and with the way this season is playing out so far, the playoff bracket is going to be a melee where nobody is safe and everyone can dream of going all the way if the ball bounces their way. We’ve earmarked W.J. Mouat as the favourites for now, who remain undefeated with victories over Lord Tweedsmuir, South Delta and Centennial, but there’s still a long road to tow with tough matchups against Robert Bateman and Vancouver College still left to navigate in October. Strap in because this is going to be a wild ride through beautiful British Columbia.

  • Saint-Jean-Eudes suffered a shocking loss to Armand-Corbeil a couple weeks ago that saw them tumble down the rankings, but just like last year, they’ve been able to bounce back from adversity in a big way with a 25-23 statement win over College Bourget. This now sets up a marquee matchup with first place on the line against undefeated Charles-Lemoyne, who are coming off a hard fought win against College Notre-Dame. Can the champs reclaim the top spot in the division? Or will the Dynamique prove they are the Bol d’Or favourite heading into October? Stay tuned.
  • Welcome to the big leagues Mer Bleue. Generally when you’re starting up a new program, you expect the first season to be full of trials and tribulations as you get the program off the ground and start building a foundation for the future. But Mer Bleue have decided to follow a different script in Ottawa. Instead, they’re already making headlines in the Nation’s Capital beginning with their 21-19 victory over St. Peter in their inaugural game, and they’ve now followed that up with dominant 35-21 win over St. Matthew that will send shockwaves throughout the division. It took just two games for them to make national headlines and join the CFC50 ranks, now we can’t wait to see how this rendition of Cinderella plays out.

CFC100 CLASS 2026 RANKINGS

  • Elsewhere is Ontario, we had some big matchups that helped shed some light on the current hierarchy across the province. The most shocking result came out of Hamilton where Westdale found little resistance in their 39-14 victory over the defending public champions Westmount. On the catholic side, we learned that there still isn’t much separating Bishop Tonnos and St. Thomas More after the Titans grinded out an 8-4 victory in a defensive stalemate. In Kingston, Frontenac proved they’re still the bully on the block with a convincing 40-11 win over Holy Cross, while Hammarskjold made some noise in Thunder Bay improving their record to 2-0 with a signature 41-17 victory over the reigning champs St. Patrick. Lastly, Huron Heights have completed the Canadian portion of their schedule with a flawless 6-0 record, and will now take on their road Warriors moniker as they set off for a five game barnstorming tour in the United States before defending their OFSAA crown in November.

  • We finish up with week’s coverage in New Brunswick where Riverview have emerged as the favourites in the AAA Eastern Division after improving their record to 3-0 with a 24-8 victory over L’Odyssee. They now prepare for their biggest test of the season so far with an unbeaten battle against Harrison Trimble with first place on the line. On the other side of the bracket, Saint John are taking no prisoners sporting a 4-0 record, while Leo Hayes remain right on their tail sitting at 3-0. These two will meet in the final week of the regular season to determine who will have the top seed and home field advantage heading into the playoffs.
