- We begin with a quick update out of Alberta where as of Monday morning the Alberta Teachersβ Association remain on strike. The Alberta premier, Danielle Smith, has announced that they will be tabling the Back to School Act today that will order teachers back to the classroom as early as this week. It is still unclear what this would mean for the completion high school football season. We will wait until official confirmation to determine how we handle Alberta programs on the rankings moving forward.

- We begin in Sault Ste. Marie where Korah have secured back-to-back city titles with their 35-19 victory over St. Mary’s. That’s step one complete. Now it’s time for the Kings of Northern Ontario to defend their crown at the NOSSA playdowns where they will take on the winner of the semifinal bout between Confederation representing Sudbury, and Algonquin representing North Bay. The Colts are looking to lockdown their sixth NOSSA banner in seven seasons and a spot at the OFSAA Football Bowl series at the end of November.
- The scene is set for a gripping championship week in Saskatchewan. In Regina, Riffel were able to avenge their regular season defeat with a convincing 35-21 victory over Campbell in the semifinals, which has earned them the right to take a swing at Miller, who cruised past Winston Knoll to setup a juicy championship contest. Riffel are in search of their first city title since 2011, while Miller are looking to reclaim their throne with their fourth city title in five years after falling to Campbell last season. These two avoided each other during the regular season, so it’s anyone’s guess how this matchup will playout when the lights are shining the brightest at Mosaic Stadium on Halloween night.
- On the opposite side of the province, there was never really any doubt about who would lineup in the Saskatoon city finals. Of course we’ll get another edition of the classic rivalry between Holy Cross and St. Joseph after neither team found much resistance in the semifinals. These two have been slugging it out for supremacy in Saskatoon since 2019 with Holy Cross claiming three banners, and St. Joseph bringing home two. St. Joseph currently hold the ultimate bragging rights after ending the 15 year provincial title drought in Saskatoon last season, but the Crusaders hold the upper hand this year after handing the Guardians their only loss in the regular season finale a couple weeks back. If you’re a football fan in the Paris of the Prairies, you do not want to miss out on one of the best battles across Canada with everything on the line.

CFC100 CLASS 2026 RANKINGS
- And then there was four. The semifinals are ready to roll in Manitoba, and you couldn’t have asked for a more intriguing final four with no clear favourite, which is a rare situation when it comes to high school football in this country. Usually you have one or two dominant teams and then everyone else chasing them, but this year Dakota, Oak Park, St. Paul’s and Vincent Massey all have good reason to believe they will be the last men standing when the dust settles at Princess Auto Stadium. In one semifinal, we’ve got a rematch between Dakota and St. Paul’s, where the Crusaders will be looking to solve the Lancers riddle after falling to the defending back-to-back champions by a score of 25-5 during the regular season. On the other side of the bracket, we’ve got a complete unknown with Oak Park ready to faceoff against Vincent Massey for the first time this year. These four programs have combined for a stunning record of 28-4 throughout the season, but by the end of next week, we’ll need to add three more losses to that tally. You can throw everything else out of the window, because now the only record that matters is 2-0. Who’s it going to be?
- Expect the unexpected. If anyone else across the country needs to learn a quick lesson about playoff football, look no further than New Brunswick. The quarterfinals on paper looked like they’d be a formality for the top seeds Harrison Trimble and Leo Hayes who entered the bracket with flawless 6-0 records, but their dreams of championship glory quickly turned into nightmares. Just two weeks ago Harrison Trimble dismantled Moncton 31-7, but the Purple Knights dug deep to grind out a gutsy 6-2 victory to send the Trojans home for good. On the other side, Leo Hayes couldn’t find a way to hand St. Malachy’s Memorial another loss with the Saints fighting their way to a clutch 26-23 victory when it mattered most. Now it’s time to see if the slipper still fits for one of the fourth seeds in the semifinals with Moncton preparing to take on Saint John, and St. Malachy’s Memorial set to faceoff against Riverview. How can’t you be romantic about football?

CFC60 JUVENILE RANKINGS
- The only thing we know for sure about British Columbia right now is that W.J. Mouat are the real deal. The Hawks proved that once again this week with a massive 31-7 victory over Vancouver College, but as for the rest of our ranked programs? It’s really a crapshoot at this point in the season trying to figure out who’s going to come out on top.. After St. Thomas More’s statement victory against Lord Tweedsmuir, they crashed back down to earth hard this week with Centennial showing no mercy in their 35-7 victory. Now circle back to Lord Tweedsmuir handing Centennial a tough 32-13 loss a couple weeks ago, and you start to understand why it’s so hard to sort out the rankings in BC right now. That’s not a complaint, because it just means the parity we’ve witnessed this season is not a mirage, and eventually the rankings will settle themselves when the playoffs finally begin in two weeks. Hold on tight because it’s shaping up to be a chaotic November on the West Coast.
- We wrap up the top headlines with some quick notes from Ontario, where the playoffs are now in full swing across the province this week with the exception of Ottawa. Which is where we will begin after St. Mark made their intentions clear with a 22-7 over the defending champions St. Joseph to improve their record to 5-0, leaving them and Mer Bleue as the only undefeated teams with one week left in the regular season.

- We really didn’t now how the battle between undefeated Nelson and Frank Hayden would go in Halton, but we received the Lords message loud and clear after they cruised to a dominant 49-0 victory. They will now take on Iroquois Ridge in the semifinals this week, while Frank Hayden look to bounce back against Georgetown on the other side of the bracket.
- The championship is set in the Niagara Catholic league with Notre Dame preparing to duke it out against Blessed Trinity in the zone finals. The winner of this game will earn a spot at the SOSSA playdowns where they will faceoff against the winners from the Niagara Public league and the Hamilton public league, who will have two spots because they will be hosting this year. We will have plenty Ontario high school football coverage in the coming weeks as we race towards OFSAA.
