Β OVFL: HaltonΒ Cowboys show improvement but extend losing streak.Β
The Halton Cowboys were eager to start the second half of the season with a bang against the Hamilton Ironmen.
According to Cowboys Head Coach Jon Kronemeyer, the team had a productive bye week as they were able to improve upon their struggling offense by implementing a new scheme with new starting quarterback Todd Hoover.
Like the Cowboys, the Ironmen have also been under-achievers this season. Β Thus far, Β the Ironmen are 2-3 this season and have struggled against the league’s top-tier teams.
The highlight of the game for the Cowboys was the new offensive scheme that racked up a total of 239 yards through the air – a season high for the Cowboys.
Halton was also able to score an early touchdown through the air as Hoover connected with Malcolm Stokx. Β The receiver reached a Cowboys season high in receiving with 122 yards.
The Ironmen proved to be to much for the Cowboys to handle, as the team scored a pair of touchdowns and added a field goal.
Although this marks the 5th consecutive loss for the Cowboys, Β the team put forth their best performance to date and recorded their best score differential this season, 18-7.
Halton plays the Niagara Spears at home next week. Β Game time is at 7:00pm.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
