Bantam 12 man: Langley Mustangs vs North Surrey Panthers

If it wasn’t enough for the 4-0 Langley Mustangs to have to battle the North Surrey Tigers last weekend, they certainly have their work cut out for them again this Sunday. For the second week in a row, we get to see two undefeated teams face off as the North Surrey Panthers travel to Langley.

The Panthers are coming off an all-Island tour as they defeated Cowichan twice, Nanaimo, and just recently Victoria including holding their last two opponents scoreless. The Panthers, an expansion team a couple seasons ago, have now grown up and look to be the real deal this season with their four wins so far.

For the Mustangs, their team has to be pumped after a big win over the Tigers on Sunday.

Winner takes all in this game as playoff implications could be big when it comes down to tie-breakers at the end of the regular season. Game time is 1:45 pm at McLeod Park in Langley.

Midget: North Delta Longhorns vs White Rock Titans

With five teams including the North Delta Longhorns tied with identical 3-1 records and all just one game back of the Coquitlam Falcons, the Longhorns know how important this weekend’s game is. A loss could drop them deep into the division standings while a win would show their rivals that they are back as a dominant force.

For the Titans, who are also among the five teams sitting at 3-1, the same can be said. A loss here could put the team in a big hole as we approach mid-season. The Titans are coming off a tough loss to the division-leading Falcons and will need to regroup for what is sure to be a hard-knocks game over in North Delta this weekend.

The Longhorns have won three in a row and look to keep their momentum going. Game time is 3:45 pm at John Oliver Park in North Delta.

Atom: Mission vs North Langley

Both Mission and North Langley will look to pull away from the three-way tie that currently exists in the Atom division standings for second-place as they bring identical 3-1 records into their clash this Sunday, September 29 at McLeod Park in Langley. Kickoff is at 12 pm.

Despite their record sitting at 3-1, Mission is technically undefeated as their lone loss this season came by forfeit in Week 1. They scored an 18-12 win over Chilliwack Blue last Sunday.

North Langley is coming off a bye week but was victorious two Sundays ago in their match-up against Meadow Ridge winning 24-12. That victory came after they dropped their first game of the season back on September 8 against Abbotsford in a 20-13 loss.

Atom, Pee Wee & Junior Bantam: Kelowna Lions vs West Kelowna Dragons; All games at Shannon Woods Field

This week’s games of the week in the SIFC all feature the Kelowna Lions battling the West Kelowna Dragons in three separate divisions.

In the Junior Bantam division, the undefeated Kelowna Lions (5-0) – the 2011 provincial champions – take on the 4-1 West Kelowna Sundevils who were winners of two pre-season tournaments. The Sundevils’ only loss this season came by forfeit on opening weekend so this game is technically between two teams that have yet to suffer an on-field loss. The game figures to be a solid clash and a good early indicator to which team will have the upper hand come playoffs. Kickoff is at 2 pm.

The Pee Wee division sees the 4-1 Lions battle the 2-3 Sundevils. The Sundevils had a two-game win streak snapped last Sunday when they fell 21-2 to the Kamloops Wildcats. The Lions, meanwhile, extended their win streak to two games with a 38-6 pounding of the Salmon Arm Colts last Sunday. Kickoff is at 12 pm.

The day’s action at Shannon Woods Field gets underway at 10 am with the Atom division battle between the undefeated Lions (4-0) and the fourth-place Sundevils (1-3). The Lions knocked off the Salmon Arm Mustangs last Sunday by a 28-6 score while the Sundevils earned their first victory of the season last Sunday with a 20-12 win over the Kamloops Broncos.
