Bantam 9-man: Richmond Raiders (7-2) vs Coquitlam Chargers (7-2)

If you want excitement, unpredictable endings and just pure entertainment, then you need to catch some 9-man Bantam football this weekend and no other game presents a better case for great action than Richmond Raiders and Coquitlam Chargers who will be meeting in the final week of the regular season.

The Raiders have dominated the Bantam 9-man division for the part this season until the past two weekends when they dropped consecutive decisions to Coquitlam and, most recently, North Delta this past Sunday when they fell 24-12.

For the Chargers, it’s been a steady and slow climb through the standings by sweeping the North Delta Longhorns and Vancouver Trojans. Now, after two losses to the Raiders, the Chargers hope to get the monkey off their back.

The winner this weekend gets to host the Vancouver Trojans in the first round of the playoffs while the loser will have to face off against a tough North Delta Longhorns team in a game that either team could conceivably win.

Game time is 2:45 pm at Kevin Chin Field in Mackin Park in Coquitlam.

Junior Bantam: Royal City Hyacks (6-2-1) vs North Surrey Eagles (7-3)

The Junior Bantam playoffs get underway this weekend including this rematch between the Royal City Hyacks and North Surrey Eagles from the final weekend of the regular season.

The Eagles have been solid since their opening season loss to the South Delta Rams with their only other loss this season coming at the hands of the 8-0-1 Coquitlam Raiders. The season includes the aforementioned season-ending match against the Hyacks where they squeaked out a 14-13 victory to earn this home field playoff game.

For the Hyacks, the season has been a matter of single points. Had it not been for an 8-8 tie with Langley in Week 3 and their single point loss to the Eagles last Friday, the Hyacks would easily be 8-1 on the season. Like the Eagles, their only big loss on the season came at the hands of the Coquitlam Raiders.

This Sunday, the Eagles hope to improve on their last season’s mark by winning this quarter-final game while the Hyacks are looking to match last year’s performance by having a semi-final appearance. Either way, this up-and-coming Hyacks team will give the veteran Eagles a good game and provide plenty of excitement this Sunday.

Game time is 7:30 pm at Bear Creek Park in North Surrey.

Pee Wee: Mission Niners vs Meadow Ridge Knights Blue

The regular season concludes this weekend in the Pee Wee division and a battle for third spot is the highlighted match when the Mission Niners and Meadow Ridge Knights Blue bring their identical 6-3 records into a clash at Samuel Robertson Technical School on Saturday, November 3.

Kickoff is at 12 pm.

The Niners were blanked last week by the undefeated Abbotsford Falcons 30-0 while the Knights Blue were 25-6 winners over the Chilliwack Giants Blue last week.

Pee Wee: Salmon Arm Colts (#6) vs West Kelowna Sundevils (#3) – 11 am at CNC Kelowna

Pee Wee: Kelowna Dragons (#5) vs Kamloops Wildcats (#4) – 12 pm at TCC Kamloops

The playoffs in the Pee Wee division get underway this weekend with a pair of first round games this Sunday.

Barring a major upset, the Sundevils (5-5) should advance past the Salmon Arm Colts (0-10), the latter who failed to win a game during the regular season. It might be a closer contest between the Wildcats (5-5) and the Dragons (2-8), however.

The Wildcats and Dragons played each other twice this season with the Wildcats winning both meetings.

Junior Bantam: Kamloops Broncos (#6) vs Vernon Marauders (#3) – 1 pm at Grahame Park

Junior Bantam: Salmon Arm Broncos (#5) vs Kelowna Dragons (#4) – 1 pm at CNC Kelowna

The first round of the Junior Bantam division playoffs get underway also with two contests.

The Marauders (6-4) will host the winless Kamloops Broncos (0-10) while the tilt between the Dragons (3-7) and Salmon Arm Broncos (3-7) figures to be a much tigher affair.

The Dragons and Salmon Arm Broncos technically split their season series with each team winning once, although the Dragons’ victory came by forfeit. In their actual on-field battle, the Broncos were 20-15 victors.
