Bears go grizzly on Cougars

The Junior Bears faced the Chatham-Kent Cougars in week 3 and showed why they are a force in the OFC this season. The Bears ended the game with a dominant 36-6 victory.

Coach Chas Douglas is once again very happy with his player’s performance this week against a strong Chatham team. β€œThe guys came together played great football for all four quarters,” Douglas says proudly.

Like the Senior team, the Junior Bears had an outstanding week on defense. They didn’t allow a single touchdown in week 3. Chatham put six points on the board by kicking two field goals. The Bears continually kept pressure on the Cougars quarterback and were great at containing the run. They continually gave their offense great field position all game.

Graham Brodie was the star this week on defense with two big interceptions. His stellar game play was the force behind the team’s fantastic performance.

β€œThe defense played an outstanding game and continue to get better each week,” tells Douglas.

Not to be overshadowed, the offense brought their β€œA” game this week as well. Lead by star running back Evan Brennan, the Bears took an early lead only to pull further away from the Cougars as the game progressed. Brennan rushed for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns in week 3.

β€œHe is a smart back who makes very intelligent plays helping our offense drive the field,” Douglas says.Β  β€œThis week he just couldn’t be stopped.”

Even after a big win, coach Chas has big plans for the week ahead. He is always looking to improve and the players are dedicated to the team and winning games.

β€œWe just have to keep working hard in practice and not be complacent with where we are now and strive to get better everyday,” says Douglas.

On a side note, the Bears defense has not allowed a touchdown in the last 6 quarters now.

β€œThey are really getting a feel for one another and come together for how their teammates play,” tells Douglas.Β  “They complement each other nicely.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
