Bisons tame Gryphons

A dreadful first half, an extraordinary turn of momentum in the fourth quarter and a nearly remarkable comeback was the storyline for the Varsity Gryphons, whose late game rally was too little too late, in their loss to Brantford.

Brantford came out of the gates fired up, in-sync and ready to put up points against a Guelph team, who started out the complete opposite way. The Gryphons were out of sync, passes were off, gaps were not open for the running game and quite frankly, Job Reinhart spent much of the first half, laying on his back.

The Bisons running game, led by Mason Roberts and David Adeniran Jr., was able to anchor the Brantford offense, but it was the defense that demoralized and dominated the Gryphons offense, leading to a 17-0 Brantford lead at the end of the first half.

Guelph was finally able to get on the scoreboard early in the fourth quarter when Ryan Finoro was able to punch it into the end zone, to make it 25-7 Brantford.

The Bisons then ran into penalty trouble defensively, helping Guelph move up the field, eventually minimizing the deficit to 25-15 with five minutes remaining in the game. However, a late interception thrown by Reinhart, ended the rally. It was too little too late for an offense that was a non-factor for three quarters.

With the loss the Gryphons have dropped to 3-2 and look to correct their offense before they meet the Forest City Thunderbirds next Saturday.
