Calgary Spring League (CAMFA) GOW: Falcons, Stampeders motivated to win

For both the Stampeders and Falcons of the Calgary Area Midget Football Association (CAMFA), getting back into the win column will be key in tonight’s battle at Stampeder Field.

Furthermore, the outcome of this game could decide which team is relegated to Division 2 and which one goes to Division 1.

Each team is reeling from loses from the previous week – the Falcons were crushed 39-7 at the hands of the Calgary Colts while Bulldogs tamed the Stampeders 28-7.

The Falcons have yet to win this season, sporting a 0-2 record while the Stampeders have an even 1-1 mark.

What could dictate the outcome of this game is Falcons pivot Trey Dube.  Last week, he had to sit out because of injury and the Falcons had to make an adjustment by bringing in their top receiver to fill in the gap. If Dube shows signs that the injury is affecting his play tonight, the Falcons make have to switch up their offensive attack.

Additionally, the Falcons defense look to gain some confidence in the process as the unit has suffered growing pains in their first two contests of the season.  After being unsuccessful at containing the top two teams in the South, the Bulldogs and Colts, the defensive hopes that third time is the charm.

As for the Stampeders, their pivot is making a case for himself this spring.  Already in two games, Trey Kellogg has put himself in contention for top quarterback in CAMFA as he has demonstrated his physicality in the air and ground assault.

Moreover, the Stampeders receiving core hope to rebound this week after a rough outing in the last game which two passes were dropped in the end zone.

What could dictate their success tonight is their defense, which is viewed as one of the top units in CAMFA.  Last week, the team were successful in stopping the Bulldogs “three-headed” monster – Roberts Stewart as well as Michael and Christian Sherman.

Kickoff is 6:30pm at Stampeder Field.
