VANCOUVER, BCΒ β For the eighth straight season, Shaw TV will be the home of Canada West Universities Athletic Association football, kicking off onΒ Friday, September 5, 2014Β with the Saskatchewan Huskies hosting the Manitoba Bisons in a highly-anticipated rematch of last seasonβs Canada West semifinals barnburner.
The 2014-15 season opener is expected to be in front of a capacity crowd at Griffiths Stadium in PotashCorp Park as it coincides with the Huskies Homecoming night.
The Regina Rams will then go through an early season road test on national television when they visit Manitoba onΒ Friday, September 12, and Alberta onSaturday, September 20Β on Weeks 2 and 3, respectively.
On Week 4, Shaw TV will feature the grudge match of last seasonβs Hardy Cup, as the Bisons collide with the 6-time defending Canada West Champions Calgary Dinos under the Friday night lights at McMahon Stadium onΒ September 26.
Fans will then get a mid-season look at the UBC Thunderbirds when they travel to Saskatchewan onΒ Saturday, October 4.Β The Thunderbirds are looking to build on last yearβs season when they finished at 4-4 and lost to the eventual champion Dinos in the Canada West semifinals.
After the Week 6 bye, Shaw TV goes into a flex schedule for the last three weeks of the regular season to ensure that the television audience will be treated to the most compelling matchup of each week as the playoff picture starts to take shape.
The top four seeds then advance to the postseason as the Canada West semifinals take place onΒ Friday, November 7, andΒ Saturday, November 8.Β The Canada West football season culminates with the 78thΒ Hardy Cup on the following week onΒ Saturday, November 15.Β Both semifinals matchups and the Hardy Cup will be aired live on Shaw TV.

The Hardy Cup winner earns a berth at the Uteck Bowl onΒ Saturday, November 22, which will be hosted by theΒ RΓ©seau du sport Γ©tudiant du QuΓ©becΒ (RSEQ) champion.Β The 2014 CIS Football National Champion will be crowned at the 50thΒ Vanier Cup in Montreal onΒ Saturday, November 29.Β The CIS semifinals and championship will be aired on Sportsnet.
