Week 3 of Ontario Football Conference (OFC) action sees another home game for the Twin Cities Predators against the North Halton Crimson Tide on Saturday June 7th.
After a tie against the Burlington Stampeders in Week 1 as well as a close 24-19 loss after a hard played game against the Guelph Gryphons last week, the varsity Predators are still trying to find their groove this season.
βWe just need to be consistent,” commented Predators Head Coach Kevin Horn. Β “Too many ebbs and flows in our performance.”
“That comes with experience and working a bit harder in practiceβ.
The Predators offensive unit Β gave up some turnovers but also experienced a tough running game from tailback Mitch Kernick in their game against the Gryphons. The defense worked very hard to stop the Gryphons offense including impressive tackles from linebackers Tyler Fulcher and Gregory Zapp and an interception from defensive back Jake Skrinda.
Communication and consistency will be the main goals in preparation for this weekβs game and with a lot of talent and many opportunities a win is important to this tough team,
βI have full confidence we will be back on track next weekβ commented Horn.
The junior Predators are enjoying a bye this week and will use the time to also improve upon consistent performances. Although they suffered another loss in Week 2 against the Gryphons, improvements were noticeable from week one. With an impressive game from running backs Tavian Shand and Josh Gyebi as well as tough defensive plays including an interception from Jesse Lautenslager, the junior Preds are working hard to get better.
With the bye week to prepare for the Forest City Thunderbirds in Week 4, they will focus on communication, consistency on both sides of the ball and avoiding the penalties they suffered from against Gryphons.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
