CFC OFC Game of the Week Preview: “There is definitely some motivation to protect our house”

This past Saturday night featured a hard fought battle between the JV Jr. Argos and Vaughan Rebels under the lights at St Joan of Arc.

It was the JV Argos that came up victorious by a close score of 13-10. The Argos move up to 1-2 on the season, while the Rebels fall to 0-3.

β€œIt was a great game, full of excitement,” said Jr Argos Head Coach Carlo Trentadue. Β β€œIt came down to the wire.”

“Those kinds of games are always fun,”

Running back Jermaine Alexander scored both touchdown for the Argos, and leads the team in touchdowns, with at least one in every game so far this season.

The Argos defense was solid, conceded only a single touchdown late in the thirdΒ quarter.

β€œOur defense is the heart of this team,” said Jr Argos Defensive Coordinator Joe Cappiello.

Linebacker Ryan Cheng and defensive end Logan Radcliffe continue to lead the defence in tackles for losses.

Taite Hopkins leads the team in turnovers, with one interception and two fumble recoveries.

The Jr. Argos will put this win behind them and focus on this week’s opponent; the Sudbury Gladiators.

Last year, the Argos defeated the Gladiators in a stunning 34 point second half comeback that propelled them into the playoffs.

This time, the Gladiators will be visiting the Argos.

“There is definitely some motivation to protect our house,” added Trentadue.

The Argos-Gladiators grudge match will begin on Sunday June 15th at 2pm at St Michael’s College School.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
