The Sudbury Gladiators of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC) ended the North Halton Crimson Tideβs perfect season with a 16-13 victory in Week 7 action.
Quarterback Hunter Holub ran into the end zone for to score the Gladiatorsβ first touchdown. Β In the fourth quarter, Holus connected with wide receiver Jonathan Landry for a 70-yard touchdown.
The Gladiators are hoping to carry the momentum from this game into their final two games of regular season in order to secure a Β playoff spot.
βThis is our best game weβve played this season; everybody was happy, everybody came together as a team and it was a huge team effort,” commented Landry. Β “Everybody was making plays, it was awesome and itβs gonna help us out a lot next week.”
Almost three quarters of the plays were made this game, including a lot of the passing plays, but the wide receiver admits that there is always room for improvement.
ββ¦ [W]e just gotta hopefully step up our running game for next game,β added Landry.
Meanwhile, Landry gave his thoughts on what will bring the Gladiators playoff success.
βWe need to stay together as a team and everybody needs to work hard, not just a few players,” said Landry.
The varsity Gladiators wrap up their regular season on the road where they will face off against the Nipissing Wild on July 19 (Saturday) before heading into Conference Playoffs on July 26.
Meanwhile, the junior varsity Gladiators defeated the Crimson Tide 16-7 in what was the final game of their regular season due to their bye next week. Β Unfortunately, their 4-4 record is not enough to get them into the playoffs.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
