CFC OFC Game of the Week Preview: “We work together now, but we should be working as a family”

The Sudbury Gladiators of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC) ended their week four game in a 31-31 tie with the Toronto Junior Argonauts.

The Gladiators played well on all aspects of the field this past Sunday.

“We definitely were able to work together as a unit and move the football,” commented running back Jakob Graham on the team’s performance. “We had long drives that we were able to turn into points and all together we minimized our mistakes.”

“Our offensive line was able to hold their own and make a big push when needed.”

The big offensive plays of the game were slotback Devyn Chenier’s touchdown off of a 90-yard kick off return, and the 10-yard pass from quarterback Hunter Holub to Joshua Walker to tie the game as time expired to end the game.

“On defence we were able to stop the run, which was major, and our corners were able to play tight on the receivers which made it almost impossible to give an inch,” added Graham.

Allan Campbell, who got three sacks and numerous tackles, dominated the Gladiator’s defence.

The Gladiator running back sees the team needing to work on its chemistry in the upcoming weeks.

“We work together now, but we should be working as a family,” said Graham.

Meanwhile, the junior varsity Gladiators defeated the Toronto Jr Argonauts 25-14.

Both the junior and the varsity Gladiators will be on the road again this weekend to challenge the Peterborough Wolverines. The juniors will kick off the double-header at 4:00pm, followed by the varsity game at 7:00pm on (Saturday) June 21.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
