This past weekend, the junior varsity Jr. Argos suffered a crushing defeat in their home opener to the Peterborough Wolverines 49-7.
βWe made a lot of mental errors,β said Jr. Argos Offensive Coordinator John Royiwsky, βMissed blocks and blown responsibilities.”
“Itβs hard to win that way.”
The Argos and Wolverines fought for momentum throughout the first half of play.
Jermaine Alexander, the only player to put points up for the Argos, scored on a 100 yard kickoff return. Late in the second quarter, Andrew Cervi had a momentum changing fumble recovery while Taite Hopkins contributed with an interception.
βIβm amazed,β said Royiwsky, βThere is so much talent on the team, we just need to come together.”
The Jr. Argos will look to change their fortunes this Saturday night against Vaughan Rebels under the lights. Both teams are 0-2 on the season.
βThis is a must win for us,β said Argos head coach Carlo Trentadue, βItβs always fun to play under the lights, hopefully that will be a little motivation for us.β
The Jr Argos and Vaughan Rebels will duke it out for the first win of the season, under the lights at 8pm on Saturday at St Joan of Arc.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
