CFC OVFL Game of the Week Preview: “If we can score points on offense, we are a difficult opponent”

It finally happened in Week 6.

The junior varsity Metro Toronto Wildcats of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) were able to muster up the first win of the season – a 30-6 blowout victory against the Markham Raiders.

Jesse Amaral continues to lead the Wildcats defense with 27 solo tackles and an interception on the season.

Mekhi Hyman continues his offensive dominance with seven touchdowns and 350 yards on the season.

This upcoming weekend, the junior varsity Wildcats look to continue their success against the Oshawa Hawkeyes team at Esther Shiner Stadium.

Meanwhile, the varsity Wildcats has a .500 record in the OVFL standings after a 46-14 win over the Raiders.

β€œI feel we have begun to strengthen our offensive identity with the big win last weekend,” said Wildcats Head Coach Russ Hoff, β€œHopefully that can carry us into the stretch run.”

The Wildcats are scheduled to enjoy a bye this week, which will come in handy for a couple of injured players who are hoping to get back on the field against the York Simcoe Bucs.

Soon after the bye, Hoff and the Wildcats plans to make a significant push for the playoffs. Hoff credits his defense for staying strong throughout the season and getting the Wildcats to this point.

β€œIf we can score points on offense, we are a difficult opponent, because our defence is especially strong and can come up with big plays at any time,” added Hoff.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
