CFC OVFL Game of the Week Preview: Seeking consistency

Following a week one loss for the varsity Hamilton Ironmen team against a game Sault Ste Marie squad, they now look to week two as try to get their first win of the season. While their were some positives to be taken home by the young roster, there are more that they need to improve upon in order to become a winning team on a consistent basis.

“Our defense played well against a tough Sault team but our Offense was too inconsistent throughout the game to expect a win,” said coach Kyle Quinlan. “The goal is to be more consistent.”

On Saturday afternoon the Ironmen will this time be on the road as they travel to Etobicoke to take on the Eagles who themselves were unable to get a win in week one, dropping a game to the Cumberland Panthers.

As the Ironmen put the week one loss behind them and prepare for battle against the Eagles, they are aware of the challenge of heading on the road and taking on another team also looking to get that first win of a young season.

“Heading into Etobicoke will be a tough challenge but is one that our guys are looking forward to,” Quinlan said of his team. “They have two running backs who are an absolute load to bring down which will be a great challenge for our defence.”

The game is schedule for a 1:00pm start at Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School in Etobcoke.

Junior Varsity Ironmen look to build on big week one win

Unlike their varsity counterparts, the JV Hamilton Ironmen team came out quickly against the Sault Ste Marie Sabers and score themselves a huge 43-0 victory. They will also be heading to Etobicoke this Saturday as they try keeping their momentum going and improving to 2-0.

The Eagles on the other hand were handed a 57-0 loss at the hands of the Cumberland Panthers in week one and will likely be looking for redemption.

The game is set for a 4:00 pm kick off at Father Henry Carr Catholic High School in Etobicoke.
