CFC OVFL Game of the Week Preview: β€œThe good teams fight through adversity such as this”

This past weekend, the varsity Metro Toronto Wildcats of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) experienced 31-14 defeat at the hands of a very strong Cornwall Wildcats.

With this loss, the Wildcats are now 2-3 on the season

Wildcats Head Coach Russ Hoff said that a win against Wildcats would have β€œgiven us the slightest breathing room as we try to push for a playoff berth”.

Hoff conceded the Wildcats have been plagued by injuries to big playmakers like Trevelle Wisdom, Trivel Pinto and Isaiah Hibbert.

β€œThe good teams fight through adversity such as this,” said Hoff. Β β€œAnd we have to do so to prove we can become one of the “good teams”.

The Wildcats, who have been playing with a β€˜next man up’ mentality, will have an opportunity to break even this weekend against the winless Markham Raiders.

Greg Dossett, Deshawn Stephens, and Quinn Charles will be expected to step up for the Wildcats this weekend.

As for the Β junior varsity Wildcats, the team had an opportunity to rest and prepare as they enjoyed a bye week.

The winless Wildcats go up against the 0-4 Raiders. Β Therefore, both teams will be vying for their first win of the 2014 OVFL season.

The Wildcats and Raiders will battle it out this weekend at Mt Joy Stadium in Markham.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
