The junior varsity Ottawa Myers Riders of the Ontario Varsity Football Conference (OVFL) Β is one of the top-ranked teams in Ontario.
Last weekend, the team showed exactly why with a 51-14 blowout victory over the Toronto Thunder.
βWe were fired up for that game because of the implications for the standings,β said Myers Riders Head Coach Matt Kassner Β βWe able to maintain momentum throughout the game.β
Running back Jalla Lansanah came up big on offence as well as special teams as he scored a touchdown off a kickoff return.
Defensive back Max Lavallee was key in shutting down the Thunder’s Β top receivers throughout the game.
This upcoming weekend, the Myers Riders will be on the road as the team visits the Β the York-Simcoe Bucs (3-2).
Because of the long travel time for Myers, Kassner notes the importance of making sure to βcome out of the gate fastβ against the Bucs.
Myers Riders is undefeated with a 5-0 record this season and look to move into a tie with rivals the Cumberland Panthers at 6-0.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
