CFC OVFL (JV) Game of the Week Preview: “This is a rivalry game”

The junior varsity Scarborough Thunder are staying true to their promise of starting games quickly and efficiently this season as the team defeated the York Simcoe Bucs at their home opener this past weekend 28-0.

Veteran quarterback Connor Smith completed 11 of 16 passes for 188 passing yards and two touchdowns. Shedler Fervius and Marcus Carr came up big in the passing game.

The difference in this contest was the Thunder’s defense as the unit helped the team post their first shutout of the season.

“On the defense, our linebacker core all had solid games, flying around the field,” said Head Coach Roberto “Bubba” Allen.

The Thunder will turn their attention to rival Oshawa Hawkeyes this weekend.

“This is a rivalry game,” said Allen. “Many of these kids grew up playing against each other from their tyke days in COMFL.”

The Thunder will be preparing for an aerial attack from the Hawkeyes.

“One thing we do know for sure, is because of the rivalry and the past history between both organizations, they will come out and give us everything they have,” conceded Allen.

The junior varsity Thunder will play visitor to the Oshawa Hawkeyes on May 31st at 4pm at the Oshawa Civic Stadium.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
