#CFC10 ONTARIO SUMMER RANKINGS – BANTAM (5): Calm before the storm

It was the calm before the storm as there wasn’t a lot of movement in this week’s rankings. That storm however hits land this weekend and should continue to brew for the next few weeks as teams gear up for the mid-season push, with key top ten battles becoming more and more frequent as the season races ahead.

BANTAM (UNDER 15) TOP TEN RANKINGS – WEEK 5 (previous week’s ranking in parenthesis)

1) OTTAWA MYERS RIDERS (1) 3-0 OVFL (did not play) Myers has to be cautious not to look past the next two weeks. The Riders have two very winnable games before they have a two week stretch featuring games against fellow Wettges powers Cumberland and Metro Toronto.

2) BURLINGTON STAMPEDERS (2) 3-0 OFCΒ  (won 47-26 vs. Brantford) Burlington improves to 3-0 knocking off winless Brantford.

3) ESSEX RAVENS (3) 4-0 OFC (won 51-0 vs. Toronto) OPC QB Jake Heydon went 14 of 14 (that’s right 100%) with two touchdowns and 137 yards passing in a one-sided 51-0 win over the Toronto Thunder. The Ravens should be a big favourite against the Hamilton Ironmen this weekend.

4) CUMBERLAND PANTHERS (4) 3-0 OVFL (won 71-7 vs. Oshawa) Hawkeyes offer little resistance.

5) OAKVILLE TITANS (5) 3-0 OFC (won 61-6 vs. Toronto Jr. Argos) The Titans added 61 points this weekend bringing their season total to 164 and 39 against. Although the Titans will be favoured in both, upcoming games against Vaughan and Twin Cities should be closer.

6) CAMBRIDGE LIONS (6) 3-0 OVFL (won 50-7 vs. York Simcoe) The Lions haven’t been tested in their last two games outscoring opponents 118-7 in the process. That will change this weekend with the Niagara Spears coming to town.

7) METRO TORONTO WILDCATS (7) 4-0 OVFL (won 41-18 vs. Durham) QB Riley Wolfe has been brilliant thus far. Completing 32 of 49 passes for 680 yards. Oh and if that’s not impressive enough he has 13 TD passed vs. only 4 picks. This just in, the kid’s pretty good!

8) HURONIA STALLIONS (8) 3-1 OFC (won 48-20 vs. North Halton)

9) NIAGARA SPEARS (NR) 2-1 OVFL (lost 47-12 vs London) Impressive win over London, this weekend will go a long way in telling us how good this Spears squad is as they head to Cambridge to take on the sixth ranked Lions.

10)Β HAMILTON HURRICANES (NR) 2-1 OFC (did not play)

***Honourable Mention***Β  Toronto Jr. Argos (OFC)
