#CFC10 ONTARIO SUMMER RANKINGS – BANTAM (6): Teams settling into place for the final stretch

Last week and this week were “quiet” on the Bantam level but it starts to get crazy next week as top 10 teams jostle for rankings and playoff seeds. Here is the #CFC10 Ontario Summer Rankings for the midway point of 2015.

BANTAM (UNDER 15) TOP TEN RANKINGS – WEEK 6 (previous week’s ranking in parenthesis)

1) OTTAWA MYERS RIDERS (1) 4-0 OVFL (did not play) As the defending champs, the Riders are getting the benefit of the doubt, but they haven’t looked like the best team in the province these last few weeks. Time will tell.

2) BURLINGTON STAMPEDERS (2) 4-0 OFC  (won 41-14 vs. Forest City) Niklas Sadonoja and Erich Foerster each scored twice, while Josh Munoz racked up 270 yards and a score on 20 carries.

3) ESSEX RAVENS (3) 5-0 OFC (won 63-7 vs. Hamilton Ironmen) If you are OPC QB Jake Heydon who went 14 for 14 last week, how do you follow up? 11 of 13 for 157 yards, that’s how!! An explosive offense with a passing attack that belies their age the Ravens have  legitimate argument to the top spot. Watch this team.

4) CUMBERLAND PANTHERS (4) 5-0 OVFL (won 39-0 vs. Metro Toronto) Cumberland looks like the best team in the Wettges at the moment. What had the makings of a battle for first was anything but as the Panthers flexed their collective muscle, knocking off previously unbeaten Metro Toronto.

5) OAKVILLE TITANS (5) 5-0 OFC (won 35-6 vs. Vaughan) The Titans lead the OFC in points with 199 and they’ve also given up the least, a paltry 45 over five games or 9 points per.

6) CAMBRIDGE LIONS (6) 4-0 OVFL (won 43-23 vs. Niagara) Grant Gilmour scored twice, while linebacker Justin Gec contributed six solo tackles. A strong “top 5” argument can be made here.

7) METRO TORONTO WILDCATS (7) 4-1 OVFL (lost 39-0 vs. Cumberland) Disappointing result for the ‘Cats who really wanted to establish themselves amongst Wettges elite.

8) HURONIA STALLIONS (8) 4-1 OFC (won 49-0 vs. Clarington) Only blemish is a week one loss to unbeaten Oakville.

9) HAMILTON HURRICANES (NR) 3-2 OFC (won 33-6 vs. Toronto Jr. Argos) Kamar Collins housed a kickoff en route to the impressive win. Paolo Violi scored twice and QB Michael Dwyer notched two TD passes in the win.

10) NIAGARA SPEARS (9) 2-2 OVFL (lost 43-23 vs. Cambridge) The Spears drop to #10. Eric Neilson scored twice, while AJ Cook hauled in a 67 yard score in defeat.

***Honourable Mention***  Brampton (OVFL) Chatham Kent (OFC),

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
