- Would you like to figure out the hierarchy in Quebec this year? Didn’t think so. After another unpredictable week of results in La Belle Province, the rankings have been juggled again with Charles-Lemoyne earning a top ten spot after handing the defending champions Saint-Jean-Eudes their second loss in a row. College Notre-Dame were looking like a true contender after their 3-0 start to the campaign, but they hit a massive hurdle this week as College Bourget finally got off the mat to earn their first victory of the year. Then the final wrinkle was Saint-Francois bouncing back with a key 9-8 victory over Cure-Antoine-Labelle, who are still the only team to defeat Charles-Lemoyne. Eventually the top five programs will begin to separate … Right? It’d make life a lot easier for the ranking committee.

- Trouble in paradise? Miller were able to hold onto a 32-29 victory by the skin of their teeth against Campbell, who even in defeat have proven they will be a factor come playoff time in Regina. Riffel also continued their impressive start to the year with another 46-7 win over O’Neill, which now sets up an undefeated showdown between Miller and Riffel this week. Things are about to get spicy in Saskatchewan.
- We asked last week if Grant Park was a contender or pretender? Well Dakota answered that question in decisive fashion with a 58-0 blowout against the Pirates. We also asked the question of Oak Park, and they continue to answer the bell with another 42-0 demolition of St. Paul’s. It’s looking like destiny that Dakota and Oak Park will meet in the championship, but there’s still a long road to tow.

- The Hamilton Catholic League campaign is shaping up to be a chaotic affair with Bishop Tonnos squeaking by St. Thomas More 25-24 in their season opener. It could be a four horse race if St. Jean de Brebeuf are for real, but we will have to wait a few more weeks before the playoff picture begins to emerge.
- We had fireworks in London where Catholic Central staked their claim for the best in the province with a swift 24-6 victory over London South to kickoff the season. In the other division, there was nothing to separate A.B. Lucas and Laurier on the scoreboard after a thrilling 38-38 draw that left everyone in attendance wanting one more drive. Catholic Central won’t have the chance to face either program during the regular season, so it’ll be tough to judge who the true top dog is in London until a potential showdown in the playoffs.

- It’s going to be a three horse race in Calgary as Notre Dame proved they can hang with Ernest Manning in their 29-28 defeat. It doesn’t look like anyone from Calgary will be able to touch Harry Ainlay after they hammered Salisbury 44-8, but we’ve thought that before early in the season and been proven wrong come November.
