CFC50 power house head coach retires after 35 years

After 35 years at the helm of the CFC50 St. Francis Browns in Calgary, Alberta, Joe Stambene is stepping off the field.

According to CTV News Calgary, Stambene will be packing up his class next Friday, which will be his last day on the job. The Browns have been ranked in the CFC50 National High School Rankings since 2013. They were the National Champions in 2015 and runner-up in 2018. They have been in the top 5 almost every year since 2013.

“They are a well oiled machine,” said CFC Scouting Bureau director, Clint Uttley. “I have seen them play over the past number of years and have always been impressed with the way they run that program. They develop great athletes and young men.”

Stambene plans on spending more time with family and travel, but he won’t be far from the field when football season rolls around. You most likely will see him in the stands, wearing the brown, orange, and white, and supporting the school he was an integral part of for so many years.

All of us at CFC wish Coach Stambene the best in his retirement.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
