Under Friday Night Light at Tim Horton’s Field in Hamilton, Austin Pilato lit it up as he scored a touchdown and rushed for 90 yards on 12 carries as Team West got past Team Central 17-7 in the opening game of the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC).
Team West pivot Zach Beno snuck into the end zone for a 2 yard score early in the first quarter to give the team the early lead.
Before the half, Team Central tied it all up 7-7 after Ronan McPhail Silver caught an interception and ran down the field for a 30 yard major.

Pilato sealed the victory for Team West early in the fourth quarter as he crept into the end zone for a 1 yard touchdown.
Team West finished with 22 first downs as opposed to Team Central’s 4. Additonally, team Central amassed 19 penalties which costed the team 119 yards in losses while Team West had nine penalties totalling 80 yaeds lost.
For his efforts in the game, Pilato was selected as Big Kahuna Sport Company Game MVP. Furthermore, Team West’s Beno was chosen as Spalding Offensive Player of the Game while Team Central’s Silver nabbed Russell Athletics Defensive Player of the Game.
