The junior varsity Cambridge Lions are hoping that the momentum continues this week against the London Mustangs.
Last week, the Lions dominated the Mississauga Warriors 58-15.
Elvis Sanchez had five touchdowns – three rushing, one receiving and one off a kick return.
“He’s really stepping it up now,” said Lions Head Coach Gary Skalos. “He’s the only remaining of the starting three running backs.”
“The other two we’ve lost for the season.”
The Lions are expecting linebacker Jake Surdykowski to have a breakout performance this week.
The Mustangs’ starting running back Chase Brown will be a player that the Lions’ defence will focus on.
“He’s a really smart, patient, elusive, fast, tough little running back,” said Skalos.
The biggest concern for the Lions will be going up against the Mustangs’ defensive front four.
According to Skalos, this week’s game will be memorable.
“It’ll be a heavyweight fight between two really, really good teams,” he said.
The Lions face the London Mustangs on July 12 at 3:00pm at Laurier University Alumni Stadium.
