Last week, the Ravens had a bye allowing them toΒ be well rested heading into the contest against the Eagles.

“We will focus on special teams as well as work on a couple wrinkles in our game,” said Ravens Head Coach Glen Mills about what the team was planning to do on their off week,

Overall, Mills has been happy with how the team has performed this season.

“We are playing better each week,” said Mills. Β “We are making less mistakes and executing the game plan very well.”

The precise execution has helped the Ravens stay atop the OVFL standings, but Mills knows it wont be easy for his team to remain there..

“We need to continue to improve and push ourselves to the limit on each and every play,” Mills said.

Specifically, Mills would like to see the team make less mistakes and the defence to do a better job defending third down conversions.

“We give up too many third and long plays,” added Mills.

Although the Eagles are at the bottom of the standings, Mills and the Ravens will not be taking Β them lightly.

“The Eagles have a very good running back and if we don’t show up inΒ the right mind frame they could cause us a lot of problems,” explained Mills.

Aside from home field advantage, the Eagles trio of running backs Β – Jesse Amankwaa, Treshaun Thomas-Wright, and Justice Allin have combined for 169 carriesΒ for 653 yards and will be main targets on the weekend.

The contest between the VR Ravens and Eagles will take place at Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School on Sunday, July 19th. Kickoff is 3:00pm.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
