COMFL: Tigers lose defensive battle

WATERLOO — The Clarington TigerCats peewees traveled to Waterloo in Central Ontario Minor Football League peewee division action, losing a defensive battle 16–0.

In the first half, the TigerCats had a long drive down field, ending on a fourth and goal from the one-yard line. TigerCats running back Benji Hickey broke the plane of the goal line, only to be ruled down inches short of the line before falling over the line. The first half ended scoreless.

Midway through the third quarter, Waterloo scored to go ahead 8–0, and very late in the fourth quarter scored to cap off the victory 16–0.

The TigerCats battled hard on defence picking off two passes, one by Blake Fraser and the other by Trent Gillman-Huitema. They also had a fumble recovery by Dante Clephan. On offence the TigerCats had trouble gaining ground on the day due to a strong Waterloo defence and several missed blocking assignments by Clarington.

The TigerCats are now 2-2 on the season.
