Brantford 28  Bantam Cougars 7

Another tough loss for the Bantam Cougars on Saturday afternoon! The score does not indicate how close this game was until a late collapse in the 4th quarter! Fortunately we still have a chance to make the playoffs despite our inexperience and unfortunate results.
Offensively we came out fast.. Moving the ball down the field through the air and on the ground.  Nathan Holdaway got his first start at RB and was solid on the ground the entire afternoon (15 carries for 83 yards). Nathan along with Ben Church provided a solid combination in the run game with Ben caping off our drive with a 2 yard TD run. Ashton Vink and Ayden Rioux both had solid games catching the ball as well! We have experience alot of growing pains on the offensive side of the ball. But these kids keep fighting and working hard and I expect nothing less.
Defensively we played a solid game as well. Trevon Smith had his best game as a Cougar and was all over the field on Saturday. Trevon had 12 total tackles as well as a fumble recovery to pace our D. Joseph Riemer stepped in and played some DT on Saturday being a force in the middle with 2 TFL and a 1 tackle. Danny Vaughan (4) Nathan Holdaway (4) and Brennan Normandin-Kerr (5) each had solid games in the tackling department as well.
It has been a tough season so far for the Bantam Cougars. We have witnessed alot of growth from a very young and inexperienced football team. In fact its night and day from when we first got together back in March. However we just have to get over that hump. As our goal of making the playoffs is still within reach.
I know one thing about this team they will not quit and they will continue to fight and improve. Because they understand it’s not how you start but how you finish. And I think they are poised for a very strong finish this season.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
