Change and individual challenges on the field can accomplish outcomes that no one can anticipate.

With Brayden Laurie he started his love for football playing Pee Wee with the Calgary Bulldogs and then moving with the same club to Midget division. In those times with the Bulldogs Brayden’s team was successful in winning a Division 2 and a Division 1 Championship title. Moving forward with the Henry Wise Wood Warriors, Brayden saw similar success winning themselves into the City Championship against the St. Francis Browns. Unfortunately, they fell short for that win, but with the experience and knowledge of these high pressure games he was able and ready to represent with Team Calgary in the Alberta Summer games and with Team Alberta U18 for the Canada Cup.

In the first few years of Pee Wee and Midget Brayden was playing an Offensive Back position, but in the last couple of years with the Warriors he has been given the challenge of change into a Defensive Back and a Receiver roles. Although he feels comfortable with both roles, he is looking to play a Defensive Back position when it comes to his post-secondary football career.

Looking toward the future, Brayden is keeping his options open having already talked to a coach at Simon Fraser and University of Manitoba and would ideally like to have his wish list of University of Calgary and or University of Alberta as considerations. But at this time nothing official has been offered and there have been no visits. Just keeping the options open to see what is in store.

Brayden is very gracious to the influential people who have helped him with the success on and off the field. β€œThe most influential people in my life and in football are my dad, head coach, and offensive coordinator.” Brayden goes on, β€œThey all motivate me and push me to do the best at everything I do. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.”

However, this young man isn’t only an amazing young football player but it also has amazing set of sprinting legs. In his Grade 10 year Brayden placed 4th in provincials for the 100m and in his Grade 11 year he was a part of the 4x100m team that received 3rd in the provincial meet. This shows the challenges that he seeks out and gets to see success on the track as the same with football on the field.

So with all of Braydens success with his various abilities he is also committed to physically achieving more to help on the field. 5-6 times and week his is in the gym working on footwork, speed, and agility. All to improve the skills he has already got.

β€œWhen this season starts I think I will bring some leadership to the team and it will be very important for our team to succeed.” Something Brayden Laurie wants to apply in the upcoming football season. Another one of the challenges he has applied to himself.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
