DB Schakel looks to repeat

DB Josiah Schakel has had the pleasure of pursuing his dreams of playing football for many years. Starting 8 years ago through bantam to high school with the Bev Facey Falcons who are #CFC50 No. 3 ranked. Through these years he has been recognized for various rewards. Most recently, he won the Most Valuable Defensive Half Back with the Falcons.

All of these successes, he attributes to the people who have influenced his life the most: his parents who are always there for every game, and his DB coach who pushes him harder and faster then anyone else.

Looking forward to his final season with the Falcons, Josiah would like to have a repeat of last season. In fact, the most memorable moment last year was being the Carr division Champions.  These are the memories and moments that live on with Josiah and his teammates which have become, and are, the drive behind their past and current success.

As for academics, post high school, he does know he would like to get into a University with the chance to study Business, but as for what type of business, Josiah will like to finish the season before he decides.

At this point, there have been a few conversations with post-secondary coaches, but he is keeping the options open until the season ends. Josiah, not being 100% committed to any school, has left that door of opportunity open for this young man, “I haven’t received any official visits requests yet, but I would like to get some to really have an idea of what schools I would like to go to.”

Physical fitness and preparation is important for any High School player who is looking to move on to post-secondary football. Josiah currently trains often on his speed and endurance while participating in the off-season program with MVP. Other than regular formatted practice with the Falcons for this current season, he also dedicates some weights on the bench and squatting to help with his D-line role.

Being that he has goals and is excited about the game, he is often seen as the strong, silent type, causing a strength and maturity that this defensive back needs to block the offense from driving further.
