Defenses dominate in JV action between Thunderbirds & Predators

London, ON – Twin City Predators held off the London Thunderbirds in Ontario football conference (OFC) action on a muggy Saturday afternoon at Westminister Secondary. The game began with lots of offense by the visitors. They appeared to have scored a touchdown on their first possession only to have it called back on an illegal block. The result of the drive was a punt and no points for the predators.

The first drive for the thunderbirds ended earlier than the home team wanted when the predators recovered a fumble on the 21 yard line of London. A few plays later, #21, receiver Joel Tinney, caught a touchdown against cover 0 coverage. The extra point was unsuccessful making the early score 6 to 0.

Before the end of the opening quarter London recovered 2 predator fumbles. One resulted in a punt by the thunderbird offense, but the second recovery, by #98, Cameron McLean, was recovered in the predator end zone and after #27, Fraser Pollock, converted the touchdown the thunderbirds led 7 to 6. This score held up until half time, after a second quarter filled with turnovers, penalties, and great defensive plays.

The second half followed the same script that the first half had…great defense, turnovers and penalties.
