Eagles drowned by Spears

In week 3, the Senior Etobicoke Eagles met a strong and competitive Niagara Spears team. The Eagles could not generate any points this week and ultimately lost the game 24-0.

The Niagara team seemed to have the better offense in week three. They were able to drive the field effectively and put points on the board which the Eagles simply could not match.

Coach Chivase Bryan tells CFC that, ā€œOur offense struggled this week and was unable to move the ball effectively.ā€

The solid Niagara team held strong throughout and was able to shutout out the feisty Eagles.

Unlike the Eagles offense, their defense played extremely well considering they were on the field so much. They played really well against a very strong Niagara team and only allowed them to put up 24 points.

Danny Lamoureux was the Eagles player of the game this week. He came off the bench and gave their defense a spark, with 5 solo tackles and 2 solo sacks. He had an outstanding defensive performance that helped the Eagles defense hold the Spears back from completely running away with the game.

Both Devon Somers and Shaq Munroe had strong games again this week adding to their statistics this season. They continually play well each week and help their team stay in the game.

“My coaching staff has done tremendous job considering we had a few setbacksā€ says Coach Bryan. They have a dedicated coaching staff that is continually helping their team grow. The Etobicoke Eagles are getting better each week and sticking to their coachā€™s game plan. With more consistent game play, the Eagles would be a dangerous team in the OVFL.

Coach Chivase says he has big plans for next weeks practice. “We will have a great week of practice and bring our A game when we play CornwallĀ on Saturday”.

Week 4 pits the Etobicoke Eagles up against the 2-1 Cornwall Wildcats. ā€œFor this week going into the game against Cornwall we have to continue to run the ball and not stray away from our strength. We have to work on getting the ball down fieldā€, Coach Chivase states.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
