Eagles soar with last minute INT

Week 5 is in the books and the Senior Etobicoke Eagles were back in action this weekend. Ā Sault Ste Marie Sabercats were fantastic competition and battled right to the end against the Eagles. Head Coach Chivase Bryan tells CFC, ā€œI honestly believe this was the game of the week.ā€ After the final whistle, the score was Eagles 19- Sabercats 14. A close fought battle from start until finish; the Eagles were able to just edge out the feisty Sabercats.

The OVFL is full of great competition this year and both the Eagles and Sabercats are fighting to gain a playoff spot this season.

This week the Eagles made a crucial position change and started a new player at quarterback. Trae Chisholm-Lyn, former slot receiver, got the nod and led the Etobicoke on offense this weekend. Considering this was his first game under centre, he had a fantastic performance. Trae stepped in and threw for 266 yards and 2 touchdowns, a stellar first performance.

His favorite receiver this week was Nathaniel Pinto who had his best game of the season so far. The inside receiver managed to put up 143 yards receiving and scored a very important Etobicoke touchdown.

The victory could not have happened without some great defensive play this weekend. Their defense did everything they could to keep the Sabercats off the board. The player of the game can easily be given to James Williams. He clinched the victory this week after his 80 yard interception return for a touchdown with only 1 minute left in the game. The late play proved crucial as the Eagles edged out the Sabercats by a margin of only 5. Once again this week defensive back Shaq Monroe stepped up for the Etobicoke team. With 2 interceptions this week, he continually proves to be a menace for any opposing quarterback.

Coach Chivase is extremely proud of his team this week and knows they came together and won against a very difficult team this weekend. With a new quarterback in the backfield, he brought a new game play. His coaching staff was prepared for a tough battle and prepared extremely well all week leading up to the weekend. ā€œCoaching staff did a tremendous job preparing for the game considering we had a short bench”, Coach Chivase tells CFC.

The Eagles coach continually puts his players in the right positions and has put a very good team on the field each week. They are continually competitive and are striving for that playoff position. ā€œI am very proud of the teamĀ as we really came together this week. Great team victory”.Chivase says.
