OVFL:  JV Ravens cruise to shutout victory

Right from the opening kickoff, there was a buzz in the air in the game between the Essex Ravens and the Brampton Bulldogs.These two teams met last year in the opening round of the playoffs, a game where the Brampton Bulldogs would stun the Essex Ravens and pull off a hard fought 41-35 victory. With Revenge on their mind, the Ravens set the tone early and often, and would defeat the Bulldogs 21-0.

Offensively the Ravens were extremely strong, carrying the ball 40 times for 227 yards. Running back Chris Tannous would chip in with 17 carries for 90 yards, including a late 40 yard touchdown run that would put the Ravens up 21-0. Jalen Jackson would also chip in with 8 carries for 96 yards and a touchdown to help lead the Ravens rushing attack. Quarterback Jake Faubert was 7 for 20 for 71 yards and a touchdown to running back Chris Tannous.

Defensively the Ravens held the Bulldogs in check allowing 117 yards on 25 carries and 9 pass completions for 92 yards. Josh Schoberel, Zachary Herzog, and Dorian Kyrmi would each finish the game with one interception each.

Next week the Junior Varsity Ravens will have a bye week. The Ravens next game will be Saturday June 8 when they host the Toronto Thunder. Kickoff is 3:30pm.
