First wave added to Canada’s U-19 squad competing against U.S. at 2015 International Bowl

Twenty-three players have been added to Canada’s Under-19 National Team which will compete against Team USA on February 7 in Arlington, Texas at the University of Texas-Arlington’s Maverick Stadium. The series of games is a collaboration of the sport’s national governing bodies in each country – USA Football and Football Canada – featuring top student-athletes in football’s greatest annual international competition.

Representing Canada for the second consecutive year on the U-19 National Team at the International Bowl are Christophe Bouchard,Wade CyrCole Kulghart, Royce Metchie, Trivel Pinto and Nate Rostek. In last year’s game Pinto earned Canadian player of the game honours after tallying 70 all-purpose yards as both a receiver and special teams returner.

Also returning to the International Bowl are Canadian Under-18 National Team graduates Jakob ButlerColton Hunchak, Kayden Johnson, Félix Laflamme, Daniel Nesbitt, Yol Piok, Liam Putt, Shaun Robinson and David Singer, who helped defeat Team USA 53-9 in last year’s U-18 game.

The event marks the third time that CyrC. Hunchak, Johnson, Laflamme, Metchie, Nesbitt, Pinto, Putt, and Robinson represent Canada internationally. This group looks to avenge a 40 – 17 gold medal game loss to the U.S. at the IFAF U-19 World Championship last July in Kuwait.

Canada’s U-19 squad is led the 2016 Junior National Team coaching staff. A veteran of international football, Warren Craney has served as head coach since 2014 and has been with the program during the first three U-19 World Championships. Craney has also coached at the International Bowl since its inception in 2010; from 2010-’13 with the IFAF World Team followed by the inaugural Canada-US game in 2014.
