William Bradford started his gridiron journey in 2009 at the age of five with the St. Lazare Stallions, where he played for six years before moving on to the Western Patriotes in the Montreal Regional Football League (MRFL).

Throughout the years, he has played multiple positions and recently has settled in as a slotback and defensive back. This past season was his last playing civil football, as he will be joining his high school team, Les InrĆ©pides de ChĆŖne bleu.

ā€œLast year was my best year yet, after going into the MRFL playoffs as underdogs,ā€ said William, ā€œwe beat three heavily favoured teams to win the Mosquito AAA Provincial Championship.ā€

ā€œThe cherry on top came when I was humbled to receive the minorā€™s game MVP honours at last yearā€™s OPC in Hamilton for Coach Geoff Graham.”

His goal for this yearā€™s Ontario Prospect Challenge is to make the team and contribute any he can. ā€œI really want to show the coaches that I have improved and will not let them down,ā€ added the slotback.

He is also really looking forward to meeting and learning from the coaches and other players. ā€œIt is so cool how most of us are strangers, but we come together as a family through footballā€ says Bradford.

During this off-season, training will be a combination of winter training with his high school team, playing in a flag football league, and attending a few camps. In the past he has attending winter camps in Ottawa with Coach Ron Raymond, Glengarry and Montreal. He has also played spring ball for his high school and he cannot wait to put the pads on again this spring.

On the field, Williamā€™s idols are Ray Lewis and Sean Taylor. He looks up to Lewis for his leadership and motivation, and Taylor for his incredible work ethic and athleticism.

ā€œOne day Iā€™d love to be able to play football professionally, but hope that football can be a part of my life as I continue going to school and beyond,ā€ commented William.
