WJ Mouat (6), CFC50 Lord Tweedsmuir (56)

Lord Tweedsmuir keeps pulling our chain with their up and down wins. 56-6 this week will get them back on the CFC50 list.

CFC100 Derek Best would have 11 carries for 116 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. Jesse Goedman would add a 10-yard rushing touchdown as well as a 25-yarder to the end zone. Yosef Drysdale would get a touch reception from Trey Jones. Quarterback, Walter Dingwall would have 1 touchdown passing as well as 1, 87-yard rushing touchdown.

It would be tough opening your season with the two toughest teams in your conference. Mouat at least can breathe now that they’ve got that over with and build upon the lessons that they have learned in each of those matchups. Mouat will play Centennial at home on Friday.

Lord Tweedsmuir will face the Mission Roadrunners this Friday on their home turf. Centennial head to WJ Mouat this Friday.

STMC (57), Centennial (0)

With over 250 yards on 10 carries and a whopping 5 touchdowns – 4 of those rushing – Tyler Eckert was key in STM’s 4th shut out win in regular and non-conference play. 34-0, 38-0, 28-0, and now 57-0 are what’s been going on with this team over the past month.Quarterback for STM, Dario Ciccone, would throw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Taylor Dal Monte and Joel Pielak and Julian Valerio would add a rushing touchdown each to their name.

The defense was no joke either has Eckert had 5 tackles, Sam Steele had 9, and both had 2 sacks. Colin Dalla Vecchia would have 7 tackles and 3 sacks while teammate Sajun Shokar had 6 tackles and 2 sacks. We are not really sure where Centennials defensive line was, but that’s a whole lot of sacks. It doesn’t help when there were a couple interceptions in there as well.

Centennial will get a good matchup against WJ Mouat this Friday on the road while STM better enjoy this success as we feel that they will need to come back to earth when they face CFC50 Terry Fox on Friday night at Percy Perry Stadium.

*CFC’s condolences go out to Coach Kelly’s family, friends, and the STMC football community.

Ballenas (20), West Van (22)

In non-conference play, West Vancouver managed to walk away with the win in this close battle, 22-20 against the Ballenas Whalers.

At halftime, the score was 14-8 for Ballenas courtesy of quarterback, Ben Robinson who had 180 yards on 14 carries and 2 rushing touchdowns – he would get another rushing touchdown later in the game. Matt Giroux and Ethan Marquis would register 7 tackles apiece.

West Van’s Ben Corbett would complete 22/41 for 257 yards and 3 touchdown passes. Ethan Johnston would seal the deal with 1 touchdown reception. With 9 tackles, Ben Croasdale would lead West Van’s defense aided by Ryerson Wallace who had 8 tackles.

West Van will go on to play the Nanaimo District Islanders on Friday at home, while Ballenas faces John Barsby also at home on Friday night.

Mt. Boucherie (20), Mission (0)

With a 12-0 lead for Mt. Boucherie at the half, the Mission Roadrunners failed to generate any offence in their 20-0 loss on the weekend.

According to the Roadrunners head coach, Dan Jakobs, the game was laden with mistakes, penalties, and poor game execution as a whole. Mt. Boucherie would go on to score a 35-yard touchdown and safety in the second half to seal the deal.

While Mission will go on the road to play CFC50 ranked Lord Tweedsmuir next Friday, Mt. Boucherie will head to the interior to face the Kelowna Owls in the Apple Bowl on Friday night.

Robert Bateman (12), John Barsby (32)

John Barsby would come away with the 32-12 win against Robert Bateman this past weekend.

Bateman would open the scoring with a 37-yard field goal by Sam Davenport, however, Barsby would complete an 8-yard run to add their 6 points on the board. They would then add 2 more 2-yard touchdown runs with failed 2-pt conversions. Dylan Roach would complete a 2-yard pass from Logan McDonald added by the successful kick by Sam Davenport. No scoring would occur in the second quarter and the teams would go into the locker room with a score 10-18 for John Barsby.

Bateman would come out of the half and score a safety by Sean Moynahan, but Barsby would answer back in the fourth quarter with another 5-yard score and a second 5-yard touchdown with a failed 2-pt conversion attempt. Defensively, Samuel Henneberry would lead with 9 tackles, 1 assist, and 1 TFL, while Brock McCartney would register 8 tackles, 4 assists, and 4 TFL’s.

Barsby would finish with 329 yards of total offense on the night. They will now go on the road to play John Barsby on Friday night. Bateman will travel to Pitt Meadows for their next game on Friday at 7:30pm.

C. Fulton Maroons (39), Valleyview (8)

Clarence Fulton would come out on top of this one, 39-0, over Valleyview this past weekend. Athlete Evan Trottier would kick and throw his way to points on the board. With 2 field goals and a passing touchdown to Caden Doyle, he would help to lead his team to the win.

All with 1 rushing touchdown apiece, Teigen Derkach, Alan Bargaso, Koalden Gudeit-Oakden, and Cole Hunter would also add to the win.

The Maroons will play South Kamloops this Friday while Valleyview will face the Rutland Voodoos at Hillside Stadium.

Eric Hamber (0), Westsyde (33)

The Westsyde Blue Wave will have all week to prep for Vernon next after this week’s victory over Eric Hamber, 33-0. Quarterback Devon Konst completed 13/18 for over 200 yards and 1 touchdown and receiver Kelsey Bentz caught a passing touchdown from other quarterback Derek Wrable. Tyredon Boose rushed for 64 yards to go along with 1 rushing touchdown.

Eric Hamber will play Spectrum on Oct. 13, while the Blue Wave go on to meet Vernon on Friday night.

Argyle (42), Howe Sound (0)

Devon O’Hea has another solid game with his 2 touchdown reception from QB Mac Ward along with 1 rushing touchdown in Argyle’s shutout, 42-0, over Howe Sound. Other contributors on the day were, Ryan Agyagos and Phillip Mooder who both had 1 rushing touchdown along with Jared Baigent on a defensive touchdown. Defensively, Seb Watts led with 10 tackles.

Argyle will continue their playoff hunt on the road against Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon. Howe Sound won’t play until Oct. 21 against Spectrum at home.

Nanaimo District (15), Pitt Meadows (12)

In a defensive battle, the Islanders would prevail in this non-conference matchup with the Pitt Meadow Marauders.

The Marauders would lead going into the half at 6-0, but at the start of the second half, there was a busted coverage and Nanaimo would score a touchdown and then recovered an onside kick followed by another touchdown. Down 12-6, the Marauders offense did start to show some life as Tato Ferreyro connected on a bomb with Tayden Mountford. Ferreyro would then tie up the game with a punched ball into the end zone to make it 12-12. However, with the extra point being blocked, the last minute field goal by the Islanders would be the determining factor in the outcome of this game.

“Brandon Hunt, Tato Ferreyro, and Ryan Crockett all came up big on defence. [CFC100] Gio Manu also had a huge game in the middle stuffing their inside run game consistently,” said Mararuder head coach, Bubba Montabello.

Both teams struggled offensively and it was the defense that were the stars in this show. Islander’s Finn Bradbrooke, Dakota Moonshadow, and Jordan Racette-Wilson all contributed with multiple tackles. Their other scores would come from Anthony Comas with 1 rushing touchdown and Bradbrooke with 1 touchdown reception.

“We have a lot to learn from this game on the mental aspect of it hopefully we can learn from our mistakes and move forward against Robert Bateman this Friday night at 7:30,” commented Coach Montabello.Ā

Pitt Meadows will welcome Robert Bateman to their house on Friday night, and the Islanders will travel to West Vancouver for their weekend matchup.

Rutland (29), South Kamloops (0)
