OFC: Varsity Hurricanes shutout streak ends in victory over Bears, JV team also wins
On Saturday afternoon at McMaster University, the Hamilton Hurricanes improved their OFC record to 7-0 by defeating the 4-2 Guelph Bears 31-7.
QB Kyle VanWynsberghe threw two touchdown passes to Daniel Petermann and one to Emmett Putt, while running back Jake Reddick zigzagged 12 yards to paydirt.
The defense played another solid game, with the only blip being a a 58 yard touchdown run by Guelph running back Michael Webber.
The Guelph touchdown ended a 4 game shut out streak by the Hurricane defense.
“We are happy with the win but I feel we still have not shown the best that we can be,” stated Hurricanes Head Coach Rob Underhill.
The Hurricanes will be tested this Saturday at McMaster Field as they take on the number one ranked Twin City Predators @ 4:00 pm.
Meanwhile, the junior varsity Hurricanes moved to 5-1 on the season with a 65-14 victory over the Guelph Bears.
Sam Berube and Joel Clairmont each scored two touchdowns for the Hurricanes while Carson MacRae was successful on nine conversion attempts.
On Saturday July 13th, the Hurricanes host the Twin City Predators at McMaster University. Kickoff is 1:00pm.
