The Toronto Jr. Argos have locked up a playoff spot heading into the final week of the Onatrio Football Conferenceβs regular season. This past Sunday they beat the Guelph Bears 32-24 in what has been described by head coach Carlo Onorati as a, βVery exciting back and forth affair.β
The Jr. Argos have managed to do a complete 180 in just a single season. Last yearβs 1-7 record has been wiped from fansβ minds as they are excited about the prospect of not only a playoff game, but a run to the championship after a 7-1 year.
The Jr. Argo offense was spearheaded by no. 1 Adam Adeboye, while the defense was led by no. 36 Steven Adjei.
The Jr. Argos are now preparing for the playoffs and their game against the Peterborough Wolverines. βWe have built a rivalry with Peterborough these last two years,β says Onorati. βWe are expecting a war to see who goes to the conference final. The real season starts now.β
The Jr. Argos will have two weeks to prepare for the match, a necessity for a team that has played eight straight weeks.
βPeterborough is a well-travelled team,β says Onorati. βWe expect to see our stands full for what will be an exciting game.β
The Jr. Argos will definitely have their hands full against the 5-3 Wolverines. The Jr. Argos beat them in a week 2 matchup in Peterborough 16-3.
The much anticipated playoffs will start on July 28th at St. Michaelβs College Field.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
