JV Wildcats not healthy enough to beat Panthers

The junior varsity Metro Toronto Wildcats had a tough game in the relentless heat this past Saturday against the Cumberland Panthers. The final score was 32-7 in favor of the Panthers.

The Wildcats were unable to take down the perfect 7-0 Panthers, but it was not for a lack of trying. Deshawn Stevens once again led the defense, while quarterback Cole MacFarlane got the start over the injured Jack Vernon.

MacFarlane was having a decent game when he was taken out just before halftime. Third string QB Alexander Glover took over, but was only able to complete two passes.

The Cumberland defense was able to keep the Wildcats to only 71 total yards and one rushing touchdown by Korie Johnson.

The Wildcats had many of their essential players out for this game including standouts Esson Hamilton and Jordan Burgher.

Next week they will need to play well and get healthy if they hope to win their division and secure a BYE week heading into the playoffs.

Their next game will be against the Toronto Thunder who are also 4-3 and sit ahead of the Wildcats in the standings.

The game will be at 5:00PM at Birchmount Stadium.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
