JV Stampeders cruise into finals

The junior varsity stampeders continued their season domination of opponents with a big win over the york simcoe bucs. They now await the winner of tonights game between twin city and hamilton wentworth.

Junior Varsity tier one Stampeders head to championship undefeated

The Stampeders had a surprising four and out start in the semi-final game against the junior varsity York-Simcoe Bucs Sunday afternoon, but they scored on their next possession the first of seven majors. The final score was 49-13, sending the undefeated junior varsity Stamps to the championship game undefeated.

The Stamps had three unanswered majors in the first quarter, Jack Woolfrey with a 45 yard run and quarterback Eric Morelli found Wes Livermore in the end zone in the first quarter and again in the second. Andrew Ziebart made good for the point-after conversions. The Bucs came back with a score with less than a minute to the half. Leigh Szela ran for the first TD of the third quarter, Mercer Timmis the second, followed by a TD pass to Adam Dunnick at the buzzer to mark the end of the quarter. The Bucs came out to score in the fourth, which was answered by a TD run by Greg Coffin to wrap up the scoring for the Stamps.

The passing offence anchored the effort with Livermore catching five for 121 yards, Doug Dubeau had another three for 79. Woolfrey led the ground game with 118 yards, Timmis had 72 rushing.

The defence was led by Jack Gatza with eight tackles, Addison Olah and Bryce James had seven each, Ziebart and Jesse Meyers six each. Kyle Hallett had a fumble recovery and Lucas Merlin an interception. Their mission was made much easier with the positioning the Livermore and Ziebart gave the opposition with kicks averaging 49 and 36 yards respectively.

The junior varsity tier one championship will kick off at 4pm against the Twin Cities Predators who won a close contest against the Hamilton-Wentworth Panthers
