Last minute win

OFC JV: Jr. Argos last minute win in Oakville

The Junior Varsity Toronto Jr. Argos move up into a playoff spot after defeating the Oakville Titans, 28-20.

It was an exciting, back and forth game with both teams making big plays. It came down to the last second as the Jr. Argos were able to get the final score and move past the Titans.

“Everyone played well”, says Jr. Argo head coach Derek McDonald. “The win was a lot of team effort, as no one player stood out above the rest.”

The Jr. Argos have now won their past two games in a row, putting them in fourth place in the Mike Ramsay Conference in the Ontario Football Conference.

“We have gotten better every game,” says McDonald. “Unfortunately, the score sheet doesn’t reflect our play.”

Earlier in the season the JV Jr. Argos found themselves in a losing spiral, frustrating both players and the coaching staff. However, spirits are looking up for the Toronto based squad. “We have won our last two games and now we are back to where we want to be,” says McDonald.

This Sunday the JV Jr. Argos will be playing back at home against the North Halton Chrimson Tide. The Tide are currently in first place in the Mike Ramsay Conference, and should prove to be a tough challenge for the Jr. Argos. North Halton is undefeated, but that is not deterring Coach McDonald and his team. “North Halton is undefeated, but we have prepared well for tough games before.”

The game will be at 2:00PM at St. Michael’s College field.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
